I brought home a Venezuelan red footed tortoise earlier today and decided to keep him in a plastic tub in the sun while i finish building his enclosure. the tub is very moist and the temperature is around eighty degrees. however when i checked on him i discovered that he was sneezing a lot. There are no reptile specialists in my area and i have no idea what the problem is. Does anybody have any ideas?

Red footed tortoise respiratory problem

You probably got a sick animal from the place that sold it to you. A red footed tortoise can tolerate some humidity as it can live in humid forests.

I agree that it probably has a respiratory infection. Do whatever you have to to get it medical attention. It will need antibiotics in all likelihood. In any case, it is always a good idea to take any new animal for a check up.
