Is it possible his shell has become soft?....if this is the case, he needs more calcium in his diet right away.. Do you have a basking area in his tank with a UVA light, which should be upper 80's, low 90's over his basking area, and a UVB bulb close by, to help metabolize his food in order to keep him healthy, strong shell and bones and bright eyes.
When my map turtle was a baby, I hand fed him calcium fortified pellets, and put a cuddle bone in water, and then at 5-6 months of age, he started loving romaine lettuce and english cucumber daily in his diet.....( I still hand feed him twice a day, a few pellets in morning and later in the afternoon. I hope this helps.sincerely, Susan.

If your pet has a cracked shell then you should take him to the vet. He could be at risk of an infection or have some internal damage.

The shell is part of the tortoise's skeleton, so it's the same as when a human breaks a bone.
