Russian Tortoise

i have had my russian tortoise for about eight or nine years now. i believe he is fully grown, as he hasnt grown in years. he gets little showers in the sink and gets to run around outside once in a while. every now and then, he does something kind of like wheezing or choking.im not sure why he does this, but it freaks me out! i love scooby dearly and i dont wish to lose him. we have too high of a bill at the vet for them to even think about seeing any of our animals... is there anything i can do here at home to help him? thank you!

First don't shower your Tortoise, just soak him in luke warm water a few times a week, sounds like he has a respitory (COLD) problem, which is very dangerous. Keep him warm, use your heat lamp and I use Reptid-Aid in his food for extra vitamens to help his immune system. You can usually get this in pet store or online. Keep him warm, use a heating pad on low below him. Good Luck. You can also contact your Turtle/tortoise Society to ask for more information, your local pet shop may have a few solutions as well. Just know owning a pet of any kind is very expensive in case's like this. Only own as much as you can afford to protect your heart and your pets...
