Which grows to the larger of the two a tortoise or a turtle?

 The turtle beats the tortoise

This is an easy question. The largest turtle, the leatherback, can weigh over 900 kg. The largest tortoise, the Galapagos, can weigh about 250 kg.

Of course there are also much smaller species of both turtles and tortoises.
