Why did my baby red ear terrapin die?

I just got a new baby red ear terrapin.I put him/her with my other two older terrapins which I had for two years.I fed him/her with some tetra food.But one week later,when I come home from school,I could not find my new terrapin. My grandmother said that he/she was died and threw her away why did it happen?

Your pet was probably sick when it arrived at your house. Not everyone who sells a pet sells a healthy one.
