i am guessing that the terrapin is eating/sucking the residue from plants and food that stick to the small stones. fish do it alot too. i my self wouldnt be to worried but if your concerned go to your pet shop and ask them. what i have with my terrapins is slate like rocks (easier to clean and less easier to swallow!!) good luck hope it helps :)

You can tell the sex when the turtle is full grown.

I have a little yellow belly turtle not sure if it's a female or a male. My husband found it in a swimming pool. when he brought it home the turtle was the size of a 50 cent piece now his the size of a glass coaster. my question is we put in small pebbles in his tank I see him put them in his mouth and he spits them out but I'm not sure all the time. And when will I know if my turtle is a female or a male??
